DBZSC Forums Skin Contest

[XZ]

You read correctly. Ever wanted to design a skin for the DBZSC Forums? Now is your chance! The rules are quite simple: No hentai, no horribly big graphics, no ripped graphics, and the skin HAS to be DBZ-related (the presence of other anime characters are welcome, though).

If you think you have what it takes, post your skin here. A winner will be chosen by the forum Administrators / Moderators (user votes will also be taken into consideration), and the winning skin will be used on the DBZSC Forums!

All the skins that have been used on the DBZSC Forums so far were custom-made by me. I had no intention to change the skin, this was a suggestion by our moderators to give the people a chance to show their layout skills, since the Graphics Community forum is so popular...

Next time, I suggest you get some more background information before making any statement. Good day.

Now, onto the layout subject... It's quite simple. Basically anything goes. You can change the color scheme, alter the tables a bit, put images anywhere... You just have to make an image of the layout, and I'll take care of bringing it to life.

All that's required is for you to make the file in .PSD or .PSP format (so I can cut the images I need without losing quality). Of course, you should aslo make a JPG version to show the preview here.

Specs, specs... There really are none. Remember, only the top banner has a fixed pixel size, but the rest of the forum's images don't need one.

Just make sure that the banner is lower than 700 pixels in width.

When I do my forum layouts, I use this image (a screen cap of the original Invision skin) and start editing it. That's about the only trick there is.

Oh, something very important that I forgot to mention... You have to decide the layout colors for the threads as well. It's not just a main page thing.

No. Remember, the tables there are exactly the same as the ones I showed in that picture. You would be coloring needlessly.

It's appealling in a graphics sense but I wouldn't want to have to surf through it everyday.

The greens used are too light for me. Other little nitpicks abound, such as the lack of distinction between the black background and the dark green bar for tracking etc.

I took long enough to make this... Anyway, this is of course, the start of my skin. I still need to make the post area skin and the buttons in that area, plus the information at teh bottom of the main page but this is a start.

I've got pop, candy, and Krispy Kreme for people who vote for me. :D

OK, I just checked all the skins and found a very common problem in most of them: the top banner's size. The way you guys made the banner will only allow it to fit a specific resolution (whether it's 800x600, 1024x768, etc). This is a problem, because skin banners should be anamorphic to all resolutions; otherwise it'll look ugly.
