Latly, I've been getting more and more into the graphical world of a computer. I was thinking that we outa make a big list of sites with cool tutorials for photoshop and such. I've got one right now.

*sigh*

Why do people take tutorials and then tell everyone they are good at graphics...WHY?

Because it helps them get good. Then they say that they are good.

If you ask me, it helps them get un-original. Tutorials can screw you up bigtime....

You can say your good and being taught by a tutorial you know. You can memorize it and become good. When you say you make something by tutorials, it's like saying schooling doesn't make you smart. You are being taught, just like tutorials.

For the last post in this forum, school and tutorials are two completely diferent things. School doesn't take away from your oringinality, tutorials do. Being good at something doesn't mean taking tutorial after tutorial and doing exactly what other people do, it means learning things on your own so you can get better. I got this far without any useful tutorials, and so can you

Well I used a tutorial that I learned for my latest sig and to me it doesn't look like it's from a tutorial. When I use tutorials I memorize then and then try different things,so really tutorials can make you good or bad considering the person,If you just copy the tutorials and try not to make it you're own then thats pretty bad...So I agree with Ricken AND with Shadow.

It's not taking originality, it's just helping you learn to do others and that itself. If you don't use tutorials and you need to learn you won't go far.

Actually, yes. Strange as it may seem, I know many people who have done the same and are way better then me.

we had photoshop 6 in our web design class, the only instruction i got is "its like paint, your assignment is due friday"

i got 7 at home...and i messed around with it and i used a few tutorials...but u dont see me repeating the same lightening or space warp or matrix over again or any of that stuff at bluesfear...i used that to learn where stuff is and then messed around with what i knew making new things

but anyway,tutorials arent bad...
