Kenshin VA

I sat down and watched the first episode of Rurouni Kenshin that came on Toonami, I was hoping they did a good job with dubbing the anime. The dialog was bearable for the most part but the voice acting for Kenshin was terrible. The origonal Japanese voice actor for kenshin had a distinctive light voice that went into a mono tone whenever he got angry, the american va doesn't change his tone at all and his voice is just wrong for kenshin. the dialog itself was horribly mutilated but that much is expected in dubs, but the voice acting for kenshin is just inexcusable.

I missed the first episode but caught the episodes on tuesday, wednesday and thursday. The voice isn't that bad, kind of week for a used to be cold blooded killer. They did a good job dubbing in every other aspect though. Do you by any chance know who dubs Rurouni Kenshin? I'm certain it's not Funimation.

This is why I pic sub over dub, that take out too much from words to an entire eps, just because its "too violent" this is why there are things called ratings and something called adult supervision if the adult refuses to watch over their childs viewing for entertainment then that is on them but why should we suffer?

honestly, i think that the dialogs were done well. the translations kept most of what they actually say in Japanese, and thats relieving.

but, i agree with DHX about Kenshin's voice. I mean, at first, when i watched the series after i watched the OVAs, i thought "wow kenshin sounds like a queer", but after a while, his Japanese voice began to stick, even though his OVA voice was kick ass. but, of course everyone is going to think that the original Japanese voice is better, especially if youve seen this series before, because youre accustomed to it. but, i dont know, IMO, im just going to give the dubs a chance and see where it goes from there.

I have a question. But first, let me get this straight, Im not one of those *new* fans to Trigun. I have been a fan and rper of Vash since last March when I bought the dvds then. Okay, my history is cleared, <.<; I'm sure someone has been watching Trigun in here on Adult Swim. I find that they have actually cut some things out. Seeing a few episodes of Ruroni Kenshin as well, anime is being sliced and diced up. *stops complaining* Kenshin is Just like Vash except in the past. Fights for love and peace. They both have been known to kill many many people. I can go on but does anyone else see the difference between the two except the time relevance? *Easter Sunday has been used wisely for a paragraph of writing* ^_^

I watch Trigun... and yeah, they are kinda alike. But I know for a fact a HUGE difference, is that Vash isn't as smart as Kenshin is. I'm no new fan either. My brother is in LOVE with that anime- he has all the merchandise to it- so, I've seen what's to been seen already.

Actually in a sence Vash is pretty smart but he still has the same feeling for people as Kenshin does.
